Nelson Damachi: Biology Collection # 1

A thorn is a short, hard, pointed part of a stem or branch of a woody plant. They are most often used for protection.
A stem-woody is the persistent main stalk of a shrub, typically rising above ground. The outer layer is the cortex which may be covered with a corky bark, or wood. The best example of a stem-woody is a tree trunk.

A pine cone is an organ on plants that contains the reproductive structures. The familiar woody cone is the female cone, which produces seeds. Female pine cones contain ovules which are fertilized by pollen, become seeds. They related to conifer leaves.

An arthropod is invertebrate having jointed limbs and a segmented body with an exoskeleton made of chitin, and spiders are air-breathing chelicerate arthropods that have eight legs. Spiders are not known to be insects, but are considered athrotpods

The picture above is of a fleshy fruit with seed, a peach, a fruit is the ripened reproductive body of a seed. All seed plants have two characteristics. They have vascular tissues and use seeds to reproduce.

An exoskeleton is an external skeleton that supports and protects an animal's body. Examples are a shell on a tortoise, crustacea on a crab, or as you can see fingernails on a human being.

A eukaryote is an organism whose cells possess a nucleus and other membrane-bound vesicles; including all members of the protist, fungi, plant, and animal kingdoms, for example the plant cells on this plant are eukaryote.

This picture is of a fruit dried with seed; a fruit is the ripened reproductive body of a seed. All seed plants have two characteristics. They have vasculat tissues, and use seeds to reproduce. This peach seed was left under the sun to dry.

A conifer leaf is the cone bearing tree of the Pine family, usually evergreen and some examples, are spruce and fir, and most of conifer leaves are woody plants.

Cellulose is a complex carbohydrate that forms the main component of the cell wall in most plants. In other words it is located in the cell wall of most plants. It makes up 33% of all plant matter, and can be found in other natural resources like cotton and wood.
